End of the Season

Yesterday, our Upward season came to an official end.
All of our Upward families were invited to attend worship at MRC and then stay for lunch and an awards ceremony.  It was a messy end as all of the coaches sprayed the players and cheerleaders with silly string!  I think we all agreed that it was fun day and a great way to end an awesome season!

Thanks to Amanda for directing our league and to all the volunteer coaches, refs, announcers and snack bar workers!  We really appreciate the time, energy and sacrifices you made to help make this season a success.
Thanks to all of our parents and families for supporting Upward and encouraging your child to work hard and always try their best.  Lastly, thank you to all the players and cheerleaders!  You guys were awesome and we are so proud of each of you!

See you next year!

Team Upward

Have you checked out the great new website just for Upward players yet?  If not, make sure you take advantage of this great resource.  On this site you fill find exciting games to play, skill and drill videos, as well as more information about the weekly Bible verses.  Sarah Reagan, one of our Upward players says she loves getting on the website and playing games.  At the end of your first practice, you should have received a card with a launch code.  Go to teamupward.com and type in the code to get started (players check with your parents before you get on the internet).

Once you've checked it out, be sure and leave us a comment letting us know your favorite thing to do on team upward.

Upward Week 3

Three weeks into our season and it just keeps getting better!  The 5th and 6th grade game was a nail biter this week.  A final shot at the buzzer just missed and the Red team won by one point!

I must admit I am amazed at how good the younger kids are.  They are so much fun to watch!  I used to hide in the bathroom during warmups because I couldn't do a layup, but these kids make it look easy.  Our coaches are doing a great job with these kiddos!

We had a minor hiccup with the scoreboard....at one point the game was 119 to 118....but everyone went with the flow and soon we were back up and running.  How about those announcers?!  They really add to  the excitement of the game and the kids love hearing their name called.  My favorite part of the whole day is watching them run out on the court and giving everyone high fives as they go.   They've got the biggest smiles on their faces!!

How much do we love our cheerleaders?!  They are awesome!  I heard (this is top secret) that they are working on a special dance for the half time show in a few weeks.  I can't wait to see it!

UPDATE:  Billy came to watch this week!  He is doing a little better and will hopefully be able to back to school on Tuesday.  We are very thankful that he is on the mend and it was great to have him with us.  Please keep those prayers coming as he still has a way to go before he is 100%.

Practice tonight and don't forget pictures are FEBRUARY 18
